Sisterhood
Being a part of the Alpha Kappa chapter of Alpha Xi Delta has been nothing short of amazing. Our sisterhood is truly special. It’s made up of women who are empathetic, supportive, dependable, and always ready to share a laugh. Above all, there’s an undeniable sense of love that ties us all together. Each moment we spend with one another is a reminder of the deep connections we’ve built, and it’s clear that every sister is committed to helping the others grow into the best versions of themselves.
Throughout the fall of 2024, our sisterhood team worked together to create events that would allow our chapter to bond and grow closer. To start off strong, we had an all-chapter retreat at Lazy T’s Ranch where we did goat yoga! Not only was this event a unique and relaxing experience, but the laughter was nonstop as the goats brought their own brand of chaos. Overall, the event made for a perfect way to unwind and bond with one another. It also gave our newly formed “families” a chance to grow closer, especially considering our Big/Little reveal had just happened a few days before. The day was full of fun, laughter, and lots of memorable moments that we’ll cherish as a sisterhood! In October, we had the opportunity to add to our wardrobes and jewelry collections when we partnered with Messa Boutique in downtown Manhattan to build our own charm necklaces. This event was amazing to see everyone's creativity flow and see all the different designs. It was a perfect time to build a game day inspired necklace to wear on Caturday’s… or every day.
As the weather got cooler in December, to get everyone into the festive mood we painted ornaments. Once again it was a time to let our creativity show, but it also gave everyone a chance to sit down with the chaos of the end of the semester and really get to talk to each other. This was a really special time for me because I was super stressed with finals and this break to be around my friends and people I care about so much was very relieving. It was a chance to relax, share laughs, and recharge before heading into the stress of finals and home for break.
These events are just a few examples of how we live out our values of intentionality, trust, and generosity every day. We take every opportunity to lift each other up—not just in moments of celebration, but in the ordinary, quiet times as well. This sisterhood is something we don’t take for granted, and I’m grateful for every moment spent with these incredible women. As we head into the spring semester, I’m excited for all the new memories we’ll create together and the continued growth we’ll experience as a sisterhood.
