Alpha Xi Delta embodies the family atmosphere that Kansas State University promotes. The list of social events Alpha Xi Delta participates in varies from celebrating homecoming with other fraternities and sororities to showing our families around Manhattan on Mom’s Day and Dad’s Day. All these events allow our sisters to spend time together and make other friends in the Greek community.
Every semester Alpha Xi Delta plans several date parties! Each one has a different theme and our most recent date parties have been Xi Haw, AXDC, and Welcome to Xi Jungle. Our sisters love dressing up and getting together to plan our their outfits for these social events. Also every December we put on a Tacky Christmas date party to get in the Christmas spirit. Not only do we themed date parties, but we also have semi formal in the fall and our Pink Rose formal in the spring.
In addition to our date parties, we also put together social actives with different fraternities and sororities. This semester, we have had dinner swaps with Pi Kappa Alpha, Alpha Gamma Roe, and Alpha Delta Pi. Dinner swaps are a fun way to see how other sororities and fraternities do things and to show off how great Alpha Xi Delta is! Along with dinner swaps, we have had social events like Disney movie night with Delta Sig and a bonfire with Phi Delt. For the movie night, we had an ice cream bar and popsicles to enjoy while watching Shrek, and for the bonfire, we had s’mores and hot coco! Socials are another great way to meet people, and it allows the two groups more time to socialize compared to dinner swaps. All in all this semester has been packed with different events Alpha Xi Delta can participate in!
Homecoming is a longstanding tradition for both Greek and non-Greek organizations at K-State. This is another exciting way we get to spend time with other chapters in the community. During this week, we compete several events including Pant the Chant, Paint the ‘Ville, Wildcats Request Live, and a parade. Alpha Xi Delta has consistently placed in events each year, and we’re always looking forward to this campus tradition!
We don’t forget about our families either! There are few things we enjoy more than showing our loved ones how much fun both Alpha Xi Delta and Manhattan are. During the fall semester we have Dad’s Day where we all invite our dads to Colbert Hills for brunch and then head over to the K-State football game to cheer on the Cats!
Then in the spring semester we invite our siblings and moms to spend fun-filled weekends with us too! Last year for Siblings Day we put together a scavenger hunt all over Manhattan and then went ice skating. For Mom’s Day we had lunch, dinner and a painting party!
